Au revoir!
It's hard to believe that my month abroad begins tomorrow. Nine countries, twelve cities, thirty days. After a lot of research, preparation, and last-minute trips to Target, I'm all packed and ready to go! By 9pm tonight, I'll be on a flight to London with my best friend by my side and my travel journal in tow.
I realize I haven't been the most consistent blogger these past few weeks. With all of the excitement surrounding Scott's recent move to Houston, our Fourth of July festivities in Fort Worth, as well as the growing anticipation for my trip, I've been more focused on soaking up time with family and friends before I leave the country. But I can't wait to dive back in when I return to the States, hopefully with a number of great photos and even better stories to share. I had originally decided to post about my travels as they happen (sort of like I did while studying abroad), but it didn't take long to convince myself otherwise. As much as I want to keep up with the blog, I think it might be best to simply enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime adventure without feeling the need to document everything as I go. As most of you know, I'm a perfectionist—especially when it comes to my writing... And the last thing I want to do is miss out on rare experiences because I have my eyes glued to a computer screen. Besides, what better excuse to take a break from technology than a monthlong tour through a foreign continent?
Wish us luck, dear friends. Or better yet, pray for Kristen and me. I have no doubt we'll have the time of our lives, but safety is obviously the most important thing. Come mid-August, I'll be back home (God willing) and anxious to tell you all about my brief journey. Until then, farewell!
